Hellbender Inc., founded in 2021, is at the forefront of edge-compute enabled product design and manufacturing. As Pennsylvania’s first electronics manufacturing and design benefit corporation, we integrate open-source and proprietary IP designs to accelerate product delivery to market. Our in-house capabilities, including printed circuit board assembly and advanced robotic work cells, allow us to efficiently manage high-mix production builds ranging from 1,000 to 100,000 units per product annually.

Our Growth:
In just a few years, Hellbender has achieved remarkable growth:
- 2021: Launched with three employees in a 3,000 square foot facility at the University of Pittsburgh Applied Research Center. We secured our first client and laid the foundation as a benefit corporation.
- 2022: Expanded our operations to a 20,000 square foot facility, grew to over 20 employees, and increased our client base to eight. Noteworthy achievements include our first IP sale, installation of a PCB Assembly Line that exceeded 3,000 boards, and the development of three productive robotic work cells.
- 2023: Achieved a production rate of 2,000 cameras per month, showcased two products at CES, and anticipated B Corps certification. Our growth continued with revenue exceeding $4 million in the first half of the year and an expansion of our client base to over 15.
